Book publication
Listed below is important information about the process of forwarding books, whose texts include original content, results of research papers, or original and unpublished academic studies for production/publication with the Permanent Publications Committee (CPPub) of the School of Philosophy and Sciences (FFC), UNESP/Marília campus:
1) first, it is extremely important that anyone interested in submitting a request for publication to the FFC takes note of Ordinance No. 099 of October 9, 2014 of this University, which approves the regulation of the aforementioned Committe;
2) it is worth noting that the request for publication of a book within the FFC, under the seals "Oficina Universitária" (local seal) and "Cultura Acadêmica" (seal of UNESP Publisher) - whose ISBN will be registered by UNESP Publisher -, must be submitted for preliminary analysis by the CPPub, obligatorily, by means of an official letter filed with the School Director, in an original copy (according to Circular Letter No. 02/2017 of FFC and UNESP Protocol Manual);
3) the protocol of the official letter related to the request (click here to download the official letter model) - containing the main information, duly dated and signed - must be done with the Technical Communications Section of the University, located at 737 Hygino Muzzi Filho Avenue, neighborhood: Mirante, Zip code: 17.525-900, Marília/SP, and may, exceptionally, be performed by someone else (if the interested party resides outside Marília and/or does not have an employment relationship with FFC, in this case, change the logo/ letterhead of the document).
4) in compliance with Normative Instruction No. 01/2020 of this Committee, approved at the ordinary meeting of November 19, 2020, ANNEX I - NORMATIVE INSTRUCTION CPPub No. 01/2020, "REQUEST FORM FOR PRINTED PUBLICATION OF BOOKS PRODUCED BY THE SCHOOL OF PHILOSOPHY AND SCIENCES (FFC) – UNESP/ MARÍLIA CAMPUS" shall be attached, exclusively for requests for printed publication, to the request letter/2020The Instruction and Form are available at <https://www.marilia.unesp.br/#!/laboratorio-editorial/editorial-laboratory/standing-committee-on-publications/normative-instruction/>;
5) on the same date as the aforementioned protocol, the original texts must be sent to the Publications Committee, by e-mail (labeditorial.marilia@unesp.br) in a WORD file (.DOC or variations), for this purpose, the its content must be, without fail, complete, already with all the chapters that will compose it (revised and, if applicable, translated). It may, if possible, contain all other information, pre and/or post-textual, that the organizers intend to include in the work (for example: preface, presentation, afterword, summary of the authors' biography, among others);
6) it is important to highlight in the official letter the texts origin, because, if they were generated from conferences, lectures, round tables and debates of a scientific event, inform: title, website, place, date of occurrence and scientific committee. Also inform if the event was financed by funding agencies, specifying them. Communicate the presence of authors from other institutions, identifying them, as well as their importance for the area and also for the work;
7) in the case of a book originating from an event, the Publications Committee understands that there is no need to forward it to the referee, due to the fact that the event had a scientific committee and even in the case of receiving support of development agencies, the merit has already been appreciated. For situations other than this, the Committee will forward it to the ad hoc referee external to FFC for analysis of the merits;
8) it is important to emphasize the impact that is expected from the publication of the book for its respective area of ??knowledge, as well as some other aspect considered important, such as additional information about the content and authors;
9) if there is a budget that can be applied to its production, this information must also be included (name of the resource source, process number, term for use and available value);
10) once the request for publication is accepted by the CPPub Committee, the book will start the editorial flow with a view to its production. If it is unnecessary to send the work to a reviewer, it will proceed to standardization, normally carried out by the FFC Library, and after the organizer(s) or author(s) make the necessary adjustments (if any), the book will go to publishing. The entire production process of the work will be managed by the Publishing Laboratory of FFC, under the responsibility of CPPub, which is submitted;
11) by standard established by the Publications Committee, ordinarily meeting on 02/11/2019, in addition to the electronic version, when printing, the print run will be 100 copies. If there is a desire for the work to be published only in electronic format, this information must be included in the request letter.
