Synopsis

It defends marketing techniques adoption by the libraries, seeing as information services companies and highlighting the importance of planning and management libraries websites as marketing tool in order to performance their functions to offer information services. It presents a classification of six libraries websites functions performance such as informational, promotional, instructional, referential, search and communicational and the points to be observed in order to check performance of each functions on libraries websites. It shows how monitoring these functions in order to contribute enhancing websites. It reports several studies undertaken in Brazil that show to libraries managers how to use the functions performance of libraries websites classification as a marketing tool for libraries websites planning and management.
