THEMATIC AND BIBLIOGRAPHIC OVERVIEW ON HOMOSEXUALITIES IN THE UFPE LIBRARY SYSTEM

This research aimed to thematic and bibliographically reconstruct the sources of
information, specifically books, which make up the collections present in the SIB/UFPE
collection from 1950 to 2018, through an exploratory and documentary research, with
qualitative and inductive characteristics. The universe of 82 works and 216 copies was
analyzed using thematic treatment techniques, bibliographic analysis and cartographic
representation, in order to promote the reconstruction of this scientific memory that is
accumulated, safeguarded and under the institution’s custody throughout its operation.
The results showed that there is a male and cisgender predominance within the studied
universe, because as the works are analyzed, there is a notion of the influence of patriarchal
domination in the production of this content and that new works that arise in this
thematic field bring with them voices that were previously silenced (lesbians, queers,
trans men and women), adding other views, experiences and experiences.
