ESTUDOS CRÍTICOS E SISTEMAS DE ORGANIZAÇÃO DO CONHECIMENTO: ASPECTOS CONCEITUAIS E ÉTICOS
Synopsis
Library catalog must act as a fair and reliable mediator between the users’
information needs and the items of the collection. However, when knowledge
representation is not held in a defensible way, user communities of the information system
can be set aside or excluded. Alternatives for spaces negotiation aiming to include user
communities are a global concern of Knowledge Organization, but solutions are local.
Knowledge organization systems can help librarians to act at the margins or social and
epistemological boundaries for equitable knowledge representation. For that, a constant
exercise to increase awareness and understanding of ethical responsibility is necessary.
This study address a discussion about ethical values and dilemas, and presents the
deconstruction method, more specifically the transgressive deconstructions, as theoretical
alternatives for the inclusion of user communities that find themselves on the margins of
the information system.
