As citações como base da rede social egocêntrica: o artigo citado e suas conexões
Synopsis
Study of citations carried out in the perspective of egocentric social networks, starting with the article from a Brazilian author on isoflavone which was the most cited in literature at a given moment according to index available on Web of Science. The impact factor of the periodical where such article was published as well as of the articles that cited it was also analyzed. For network mapping, the software Ucinet was used, and the centrality measure adopted was the one of grades, based on the entry index (citations). Among the six most central network actors, those published in periodicals with more broadened thematic cover stood out concerning the impact factor, and the existing relationships among actors (projects) can be a consequence of the accomplishment of the citations` functions in the scientific research, such as obtaining support for data analysis, contesting ideas, and justifying statements, among others.
