She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Chile and a Master of Arts in Adult Education and Counseling Psychology at the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at York University. Along with her schooling, she has extensive experience working with organizations and agencies leading training, research, and programs that address equity, inclusion, and trauma. She is passionate about working collaboratively to promote social integration and respect for human dignity. She is currently serving as Manager for Family Services at the Peel Institute on Violence Prevention (PIVP) where she leads and builds human, social, and community capacity. In this role, I have had the opportunity to provide sound strategic advice to senior management and staff and develop innovative programs that address equity from a framework of anti-oppression and anti-racism. She is a founding member of the International Society for Equity in Health as well as established the Americas, Balkan, and Middle Eastern Chapters for this organization. She managed a network of over 250 equity researchers globally as well as recently completed a publication entitled New Roads to Anti-Racism Oppression and Equity for the International Diversity Journal. Her career also includes teaching primary health care, trauma screening, and trauma-specific in academic and community settings and developing strategic community coalitions with a strong focus on equity, human sex trafficking, violence against women, and women’s reproductive health.
[They/Them/He/Him] is a graduate student with an Honours Bachelor of Science (BSc psychology) and is currently finishing their Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from the University of Toronto, Canada. Their research interests include inquiries into gender-based violence, LGBTQ2S+ mental health, and the incorporation of philosophical/social justice outlooks for the development and modification of psychotherapeutic modalities. They will be commencing doctoral studies in Social Work in September 2022 at York University in Toronto, Ontario.
