EPISTEMOLOGY: A CONCEPT UNDER DOMAIN ANALYSIS IN THE FIELD OF KNOWLEDGE ORGANIZATION

Epistemology is understood from two perspectives in this study. The first as a study
of knowledge and justified beliefs and the second, from a broad perspective, epistemology
studies issues related to the creation and dissemination of knowledge in different domains.
It discusses the concept of epistemology explicitly presented in the proceedings of the
Congresses of the International Society for Knowledge Organization of the Spain-Portugal
Chapter from 2013 to 2021 and develops descriptive and qualitative research and uses
categorization to present, discuss and analyze the data. The narrow meaning and the broad
meaning of the concept of epistemology are the categories of analysis of the concepts of
epistemology. A total of 13 articles present the concept of epistemology explicitly. The study
makes it possible to recognize the different forms and purposes of the presentation of the
concept of epistemology in the articles analyzed and recognizes the importance of studying
epistemology in the field of knowledge organization.
